The Gold Tone IT-250F is a high-quality Irish tenor banjo designed to deliver robust volume and rich tonal clarity, making it ideal for traditional Celtic music sessions. This instrument is tuned GDAE, an octave below the mandolin, which complements other instruments like the bodhran, pipes, and fiddles in Irish ensembles.

This used one was setup by luthier and player Dave Cory. Excellent condition.

Key Features:

  • Tone Ring and Resonator: Equipped with a 40-hole brass archtop tone ring and a 14-inch mahogany resonator, the IT-250F projects sound effectively, ensuring the player is heard even in larger sessions.
  • Construction: The banjo features a dark-stained maple neck and an 11-inch, 3-ply maple rim, contributing to its durability and tonal quality.
  • Fingerboard and Inlays: It boasts a 17-fret ebony fingerboard adorned with traditional hearts and flowers inlays.
  • Hardware: The instrument includes a notched steel tension hoop, one-piece cast flange, GT Master Planetary tuners, and chrome-plated hardware, ensuring reliable performance and ease of maintenance.
  • Additional Features: A Gold Tone cast tension tailpiece, engraved armrest, and a Renaissance head are also part of the design, enhancing both playability and visual appeal.

Weighing approximately 11 pounds, the IT-250F is designed for comfort during extended playing sessions. Its combination of traditional design elements and modern craftsmanship makes it a preferred choice for musicians seeking a loud and punchy tenor banjo for Irish music.

Comes with a nice TKL hard case.
